YOUNGSTERS from Somerset donned their Easter bonnets and fancy dress outfits to attend an Easter Tea Party at a farm shop in the county last week (April 14, 2022).
Rumwell Farm Shop, which is located on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, hosted the event and declared two of its guests the best dressed for the Easter celebrations.
Anne Mitchell, Joint Owner of the farm shop and café, said: “Our events for youngsters in the café have proved very popular in the past, so this year we decided to hold an Easter Tea Party once again, and to have a fancy dress competition as part of that too.
“Poppy Clark, aged seven, from Wellington and Mollie Beale, aged eight, from Bishops Lydeard were declared our winners and both took home some mini Easter eggs as their prizes. They both made a lot of effort with their Easter bonnets. We were very impressed.
“On the day we also served a special Easter table-based tea, including sandwiches and Easter themed sweets, and gave an age specific activity pack, including a selection of Easter games and activities, to each child.
“For anyone who missed out on this event, don’t worry we’ve lots of others coming up in the summer that are family-friendly, plus our Halloween Children’s Party at the end of October and some very special extra Father Christmas treats in December. Watch this space! We’ll be announcing more soon.”
Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate.
Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as daughters-in-law Sophie and Donna.
Rumwell Farm Shop has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. There is also The Rumwell Flower Shed on-site, a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar and Gift Room.
The Rumwell Café is a large and spacious building. The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.
Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, roast carvery Sunday lunches and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
