Hall & Woodhouse, the leading independent family-owned Dorset brewer, held its annual lunch for 50 of its retired team members as part of the company's Founder's Day celebrations.
This year H&W held the lunch at its brand-new pub in Wichelstowe, Swindon, which opened in February 2019. The pub has many unique features including a canal boat named the Lady Rose which contains booths where you can pull your own pint.
Past team members of Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) who have worked continuously for the company for more than 15 years are invited to the annual get together. Mark Woodhouse, Family Director, and Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman, host a complimentary three-course lunch each year in either a newly opened or refurbished pub across the estate, as a way of saying thank you for each person's loyalty and dedicated service over the years.
Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, explained: "Every year we look forward to seeing our extended team and catching up with their latest news. Just because you retire from H&W, it doesn't mean that you stop being part of the H&W family.
"It is always enjoyable to introduce our retired team to our latest pub; they still take an avid interest in the company and it was great to be able to share Wichelstowe's innovation with them."
H&W's Founder's Day is celebrated annually in June to mark the day the company was founded. To coincide with this celebration, team members and regulars at all of the managed pubs take to the streets to tackle litter in the local areas. H&W's public houses are hubs in the community and so to celebrate the day, the business helps to keep communal spaces clean and tidy. All participants are rewarded with a slice of cake and a bottle of specially brewed Founder's Ale for their efforts.
