Andy to play at The Barn this summer

MUSIC lovers from Taunton can see an acoustic musician perform live at a restaurant in the county as part of its summer of live music programme (July 2022).
Professional singer and guitarist Andy Doran will be playing at The Barn @ Pod Shavers at Bishop’s Lydeard near Taunton on Saturday, July 30 from 1.30pm.
Jay Christopher from The Barn @ Pod Shavers, who runs the restaurant with his partner Jenny, said: “We’re thrilled to have booked Andy as part of our summer of live music programme and can’t wait to hear him play.
“We hope lots of people come along to enjoy his acoustic and modern cover tracks alongside a drink or bite to eat. We’ll also have our tapas menu available from 12noon for people to enjoy too.”
Situated in the foothills of the Quantocks, The Barn was previously a cattle milking barn and still boasts many original features today in its newly opened and converted ‘Second Eleven Barn’.
Its name, Pod Shaver, comes from the adjacent barn that used to house a cricket bat manufacturer.
The new owners of The Barn @ Pod Shavers began their careers in the services with Jenny working for the ambulance service for 16 years and Jay serving for seven years in the Royal Marines before working in property management and renovations. The pair met at culinary school and realised their dream of one day owning and running their own restaurant.
Andy sings and plays acoustic guitar at pubs, clubs, functions, restaurants and hotel lounges across the South West. His repertoire includes a variety of classic and modern cover tracks.
He has toured with the late, great Cornish comedian, Jethro, and has performed for Prince Charles.
He said: “I’m really excited about playing live at The Barn @ Pod Shavers. It’s a great, modern venue that looks perfect for my style of playing where customers can relax with a drink or some food, chat and listen to me playing in a chilled atmosphere.”
Andy will be performing at The Barn @ Pod Shavers on Pound Lane in Taunton on Saturday, July 30 from 1.30pm.
