First: what is Poetry Pin?
Poetry Pin is a geo-located digital repository for fresh and new site specific poetry.
Geo-locate your words in the Poetry Pin project and they will be visible in that location only. Mouse over from your desktop and you'll get a snippet, to reveal in full you'll need to step out and stand where the author intended you to.
This is made possible with a bespoke mobile web-app developed for Poetry Pin.
So where is it?
Poetry Pin project could easily dilute itself by allowing poetry to be geolocated everywhere, at the top of mountains, secret islands, or even Antarctica, but the very first steps need to be distinct and focused. So the chosen path is the one dislocated from the coast by the new Hinkley C development in West Somerset.
Why here?
Hinkley Point and the Shurton Bars landscape are on the verge of immense change, they sit on an axis, poised to witness the shock of the new colliding with the old. This landscape is dynamic, full of flux and change, jostling with heat and sleep in equal measure.
This place is ready for ideas to spawn; it is a place where new writing can be born.
When?
Poetry Pin is due to go live 1st March 2014, at which point you will be able to pin your poetry to the trail.
There will be twelve artist led workshop walks, one every month passing through this landscape, reading, writing, authoring, posting, probing, discussing, exploring, reflecting, revealing.
See this as an open invitation to all creatives.
Over this year the Poetry Pin project will begin to populate with words to be digested and experienced in location.
Workshop dates.
Poetry Pin will meet at Shurton Meadow gate (TA5 1QQ - OS ref: ST202448) at 11.00 on the second Saturday of the month, starting from March 8th 2014.
