This week Pitman Training opened its doors to the people of Enfield. Launched by locals Dip and Neil Khakhria, the new centre which aims to help people improve their career prospects, gain promotions or get back to work is part of the same group that helped the Mayoral Services Manager gain many skills at the start of her career.
Pitman Training is the leading British training provider and has delivered vocational training since 1837, with the newest centre in Enfield looking to help people create their own history. Located on Silver Street in the heart of Enfield, excited locals attended the centre’s launch event. Among them was Deputy Mayor of Enfield Christine Hamilton and Koulla Panaretou, the Mayoral Services Manager, who had studied at the centre as a youngster.
“It was an honour to be part of the grand opening of Pitman Training and I’m pleased to see that a much wider portfolio of learning is now available in Enfield for those eager to broaden their expertise,” said Koulla. “I attained many Pitman qualifications when I was younger, and those skills were crucial in my early years of work when I secured a job at Barclays Bank before I even left school in 1984. The facilities at the centre are superb, and I would recommend Pitman to all my friends and family. I wish Pitman Training all the success for the future.”
To celebrate the launch, the team at Pitman also ran a competition for the community of Enfield, offering five lucky people the chance to win one of five diplomas, covering their study fees of £2,000 each. The Deputy Mayor announced the winners on the day who had been selected by sharing a detailed reason of why they believed they should be awarded a diploma. Saira Hussain was one of the prize recipients. “Due to health reasons, I recently lost my job in a hospital as it was no longer a safe environment for me. Because of this I wasn`t really expecting anything good from my near future, so Pitman has come as a huge blessing to me,” explained Saira.
“The prospect of having to retrain after losing my job was hard enough and then the cost it came with made it look unachievable. However, thanks to this opportunity, I’m sure I’ll be back in work in no time. For me, this diploma is a life-changer, and I am very grateful to Pitman Training for this opportunity.”
The new Enfield training provider offers students over 250 self-paced, flexible training courses, which can be started at any time and completed at a pace that suits their lifestyle. So, whether students are interested in secretarial, Microsoft Office, keyboard skills, bookkeeping and accounts, IT or something else, Pitman can help.
Speaking on the opening, Neil said, “The whole Grand Opening went amazingly well. Both Dip and I are excited to be providing students with both in-centre and online courses, which allow them to study anytime, anywhere. The courses we provide are ideal for working adults or people with busy schedules. Courses also offer state-of-the-art technology, so whether you decide to sharpen your IT skills or take a marketing diploma, they include the most up-to-date equipment, audio guides, workbooks, and live software. Students will also have access to our supportive learning coaches, who are crucial to ensure you get the feedback, support and motivation you need to reach your goals.”
