Kernos Quiz Night, Long Melford Village Hall, 27th February

The Kernos Centre is holding its annual Quiz Night at Long Melford Village Hall on Friday February 27th –  28th running of this very popular fund-raising event. Doors open at 7.15 for a 7.30 start.

Individual tickets, which can be bought on the door, are £8 – and this includes a hot meal and access to a licensed bar! You can either enter the Kernos Quiz as a ready-made team (of up to 8 people) or come along and team up with others on the night. Either way – to assist with the catering – it would be helpful if you could let us know your intention to attend, either by phoning 01787 882883 or e-mailing us at admin@kernos.org.

Last year over 100 keen quiz fans managed to raise nearly £1000 in much-needed funding for our charity, which has been invaluable in helping us to continue our work offering counselling support to people in Sudbury and the surrounding area.

The Kernos Quiz quest this year is to try and top that sum and, to assist in this endeavour, Chris Helliwell, the Quiz Master of the Cock & Bell in Long Melford, has once again volunteered his services. Last time he really made the evening into a wonderful fun event, providing a great selection of quiz questions, and he is once again providing his expertise and great sense of humour at no cost.

Last year’s winners were the Glemsford Bongos – they also won in 2013, so the challenge this year will be to try and stop them from getting a hat-trick.

The Kernos Centre in Sudbury was opened in April 2003 and provides counselling and support services for locally-based adults, children and young people from 7 years old who have emotional and psychological difficulties.

Financial Director and Trustee Peter Brown says: “The Kernos Quiz is one of our biggest fund-raisers and one of a number of ways in which we try to attract desperately needed funding. The demand for our counselling services and support is growing every year but available funding sources are reducing, so we are deeply grateful to individuals and organisations who are able to support us in this way.”

If you are unable to get along on the day – but would like to help Kernos by adding to the funding raised by the Quiz Night – you can do so by sending a cheque, made out to ‘The Kernos Centre’, to Kernos Centre, 32-34 Friars Street, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2AG.

If you are a taxpayer, your contribution could also be eligible for Gift Aid – which means that every £10 contributed is worth £12.50 to us. For a Gift Aid Declaration form, please contact us – either at the above address or e-mail admin@kernos.org.
