Taverners Bringing Showbiz Names To Sudbury
Showbiz names currently in TV’s EastEnders and West End musical hit Mama Mia are among the celebrities lined up to play in a celebrity cricket team.
The Lord’s Taverners will make an appearance in a charity match at Sudbury Cricket ground at Friars Street ground on Sunday, 26th July.
It is the third time the team has visited the ground in 10 years, and last time attracted more than 800 spectators.
Ryan Philpott, who will captain the side, is currently playing Sergeant Kenny Morris in East Enders. He has a secondary career as an award-winning television sports documentary maker, including ITV’s The Footballing Mavericks and previously Keane and Vieira – Best of Enemies.
Mama Mia actor Richard Trinder, also boasts sports credentials of specialist wicket keeper and sledger for Wandsworth Cowboys Cricket Club.
Another actor visiting Sudbury will be Ben Jones, currently playing Dr Greg Robinson in BBC One daytime soap opera Doctors.
Sudbury cricket club president Ted Clarkson, who is co-ordinating the day, said the visitors would be fielding a team strong in show business names, along with cricketers likely to include at least one former England player.
Admission will be free on the day, although the club is selling lunches for the match, with details on its web site.
A big thanks to all sponsors and supporters on the day especially main match sponsor ALT training services..
