 Sudbury Memory Walk

Sudbury Memory Walk has only two weeks to go, 22nd October

There is only two weeks to go before over 80 people join the Sudbury Memory Walk.  Have you signed up yet?  Jerry Thatcher, urges residents of Sudbury to walk for a world without dementia. You may remember reading about Kate who was 100 years old earlier this year.  Kate is an avid adventurer and has travelled the world showing that with the right care and support you can live well with dementia.

To mark Kate’s life her beloved son Jerry wanted to mark her journey by inviting the community to walk together to raise awareness of dementia.

This Free community walk will take place on Saturday 22nd October 2016 at 12noon.  You can join us young and old for a wonderful walk along memory lane.  Starting and finishing at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, Sudbury CO10 2SU the 1 mile 3 mile or 5 mile walk will be filled with local memories to make you smile.  Two wonderful bands will join us during the afternoon taking us back to the 1920’s through to the 1950’s with some tunes that you are sure to remember.

Alana Page, Community Services Operations Manager at Sue Ryder says “ Working with The Bridge Project, we are able to offer a weekly Synergy Cafe in Sudbury for people living with dementia to attend together with a family member or friend. Synergy Café is free to attend and runs weekly on Mondays 11am – 3pm at the Bridge Project, people can also purchase lunch and refreshments at the café. Synergy Café offers the chance to socialise in a relaxed environment with people in similar situations and also benefit from the range of activities on offer and speakers providing information on sources of help.”

If you would like to join Jerry to fight dementia, you can contact the organising team on 01787 375656 or via email kingfisherreception@ssleisure.co.uk  alternatively get on line and book your FREE place today.

You can be any age to attend, so why not get the whole family involved today.
