A day at the races doesn’t go as planned!
What happens when four women take a day off from their fish packing jobs to go to the races for a drink or three and maybe a flirt and a flutter? While quaffing champers and eating cheese and pickle sandwiches, the foursome have a right old royal time backing horses named after Tony Christie song titles. Will Shelley become a TV star with the help of on course race commentator Jim?
Will Patrick the jockey ride the girls’ final horse selection to victory? Will Jan pluck up the courage to tell Joe, their supervisor, how she feels about him? Will Pearl encounter a certain someone from her past?
Meanwhile, one by one, their horse selections are winning. Are the girls about to win big? Find out in this vibrant comedy drama developed by highly respected Hull Truck Theatre.
An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
