Showtime at Teatime, Long Melford, 2nd September 2018
Live music, tea and cakes in Long Melford Country Park: Songs from stage shows and movies performed by professional singers Ian Sanders and Janet Munro at Jenny Wren's Tea Garden.
JENNY WRENS is an alfresco tea shop in the wonderful setting of Long Melford Country Park (next to Rodbridge). Having opened in May, it has built a local reputation for quality tea and coffee and delicious home-made lunches and cakes. Popular with visitors, locals, cyclists and dog-walkers, it is a hidden gem close to both Long Melford and Sudbury.
SHOWTIME AT TEATIME is a one-off special live music event for the August Bank Holiday weekend. As well as taking over as proprietor of Jenny Wrens, JANET MUNRO is an experienced professional singer who has won the admiration of many, most recently as lead singer of The Blue Skies and is famed for her recreations of the singing voices of Marilyn Monroe and Doris Day. She is joined by West End Performer IAN SANDERS who has appeared in many musicals and concerts including Sam Mendes' production of OLIVER! as Mr Bumble and alongside Tommy Steele as Mr Bisset in SCROOGE at the London Palladium. He has also made TV appearances in Alan Bleasdale's Melissa, Doctors, Casualty, Eastenders and more recently the award-winning BBC Comedy Series Detectorists.
Come to the park and be nourished by music, drink and food. Ian and Janet will be performing songs from classic musical shows from London's West End and Broadway including Chicago, Calamity Jane, 42nd Street, Chess, Les Miserables, Sweet Charity, Oliver, A Little Night Music and Guys and Dolls. They will also bring a bit of Hollywood to the park with songs from movies like Some Like It Hot, The Lion King, Aladdin, The Wizard of Oz, Evergreen and Singing in the Rain.
Sunday 26th August serving food and drinks from 12 noon, music starts at 3pm.
