Medieval Siege Society Battled It Out At Hedingham Castle Over Easter Weekend

This Easter Weekend (20th & 21st April 2014) the Medieval Siege Society were invited to ply at Hedingham Castle for two days of siege and battles, who would take the castle? Only one way to find out!

The crowds arrived on Sunday morning, despite the rain and damp conditions, to witness the first skirmish, which saw ladies from the society held to ransom by the evil Harrington Companye, men at arms and archers of The Hartley Companie, The De Cobham Household, The Companie of the Red Crow and The Bonnivant Household put up a brave fight and defended their castle against The Harrington Companye.

The afternoon battle, however, saw the defending side loose before their leader had his head cut off in a spectacular show of gore and giggles for all the family.

Monday brought about a sunnier day and a much bigger crowd to see the skirmish and battle again, this time an archer from The Hovel joined the the households defending the keep to win the final battle and exact revenge on the head of the Harrington Compnaye by putting his head on a spike!

Great fun was had by all the public in attendance and probably even more so by the members of the Medieval Siege Society that were in attendance.
