It's the end of an era...
The Wymering Arms looks set for demolition. The site has now been fenced off in preparation for the bulldozers. It's the end of an era for the building which was has stood at the heart of Wymering for the last 75 years. Developers plan to demolish the building and replace it with 15 flats. .
In the 1930's, The Wymering Arms Public House was commissioned by the local council to support the newly built Isle of Wight Estate. "The Wymering" was envisaged as the central hub of the local community. The year was 1937: The Wymering Arms would open its doors for the first time to welcome local residents into its warm embrace. "The Wymering" had remained at the heart of the neighbourhood for the next 74 - until it finally closed its doors to the public in April 2011.
The building will be demolished and replace with flats
