Sneak preview of the futuristic new BABYZEN buggy

Recaro will soon release the innovative BABYZEN... and its already won awards!
Recaro is on a roll lately when it comes to buggies, it would seem. Late last year we saw the Recaro Akuna buggy and travel system hit our streets (it scored full marks in the roadtest by our sister site MadeForMums) and this year, parents will be treated to the 3-wheeler BABYZEN.
I got a sneak peek of the BABYZEN last year at the huge international baby and child fair in Germany, called Kind und Jugend. Since then, I've been dying to try it out in the real world. The BABYZEN has a look that screams "cutting edge", and it sounds like it'll offer a performance that will back this up.
First on the list of functional, parent-friendly features is the folding mechanism. Recaro's BABYZEN not only claims to have a one-handed folding system that can be operated in just seconds, but a compact fold that'll see it fit in the boot of most cars. Our sister site, MadeForMums, is due to test this buggy out very soon, and this is one claim they'll definitely pay attention to.
Next up is the system that sees the front wheel lock automatically when going over really uneven terrain. Then there's the LED Safety Light that makes sure your visible to traffic, which is operated from the buggy's handle. Also worth a mention is that the seat cover can be removed and machine washed.
The BABYZEN can be teamed with Recaro's Young Profi Plus car seat, for a package price of £690. This from birth car seat scored 4 out of 5 stars in the MadeForMums review. You can also add the Recaro carrycot for your newborn. This, along with the buggy and car seat will cost £899. If you're just after the buggy, you're looking at a £575 price tag.
In terms of awards, the BABYZEN by Recaro has already won the Kind und Jugend Innovation Award in 2010 and the International Forum Design Award for 2011. Not bad for such a newcomer!
