Easter Fun in Warwickshire's Country Parks.

 

Warwickshire's Country Parks are special places with great value for the Easter holidays.

Over the next week Coventry and Warwickshire radio station Mercia is running Treasures in the Park, a competition to win one of five ultimate park packs.

Mercia's ‘Treasure in the Park' treasure hunts will be taking place at the following places and times when visitors can meet the Mercia Street Stars and join in the fun!

Kingsbury Monday 18th April - 12:30 - 3pm
Pooley Tuesday 19th April - 12:30 - 3pm
Hartshill Wednesday 20th April - 12:30 - 3pm
Ryton Thursday 21st April - 12:30 - 3pm
Burton Dassett Friday 22nd April - 12:30 - 3pm

Springtime Chicks at Kingsbury Water ParkCome along and make your own Springtime Chick or Fluffy Bunny, or even a Spiky Hedgehog, out of recycled materials and sparkly bits. Suitable for children aged 5 to 10 years, who must be accompanied by an adultTime: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

SUNDAY 17 APRIL
Spring-time Walk at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
Join a Ranger on this 2-mile journey of discovery to look for plants, insects, birds and animals. You never know what you might see.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Meet: The Visitor Centre.
Cost: Adults £2.50, Concessions £1.50, Family £7.00.

MONDAY 18 APRIL
Spring Swimmers at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Come pond dipping to find out what's swimming beneath the surface of the water, then make a watery hat to take home. A family event.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Blue Tit Boxes at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Come along and build a home for our beautiful feathered friends. Learn all you need to know about making sure your box becomes home to a clutch of tiny chicks. A family event. Please bring a hammer.

Kite Making at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Drop in and make your own kite from everyday materials and then fly it - hope for a windy day!
A family event.
Time: Drop in anytime between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.
Meet: The Information Centre.
Cost: £2.00 per child.

Fairy Wands & Wizard Staffs at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Join us to transform plain hazel and willow sticks into glitzy fairy wands and fiery wizard staffs using natural treasures found on the park and sparkly art materials. For children aged 3 to 12 years, who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: Drop in anytime between 11.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.
Meet: The Visitor Centre.
Cost: £2.00 per child.

WEDNESDAY 20 APRIL
Easter Eggstravaganza at Kingsbury Water Park CU
Come along for some Easter fun! Decorate your own egg (bring a very hard boiled egg with you, we'll provide spares) then take part in the egg roll, egg and spoon obstacle course and more besides.
A family event.
Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
Meet: The Visitor Centre.
Cost: £3.00 per child.

Rubbish Robot Challenge at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Come and rummage in our robot spare parts junk pile and take on the challenge to make a new recycled robot to take home. For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.

THURSDAY 21 APRIL
Easter Hats at Kingsbury Water Park CU Drop in and make an Easter hat from natural materials and sparkly bits! A family event suitable for children aged 3 to 10 years, who must be accompanied by an adult.Time: Drop in anytime between 10.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m.
Meet: The Information Centre. Cost: £2.00 per child.

Easter Baskets at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Join us to make a basket from natural materials collected in the park, then take it home to fill with whatever treats you like! For children aged 5 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

TUESDAY 26 APRIL
Woodland Minibeast Hunt at Ryton Pools Country Park CU
Join a Ranger and use nets, pots and shaker sheets to discover what's jumping, crawling and flying around the woodland. For children aged 3 to 12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Cost: £3.00 per child.

WEDNESDAY 27 APRIL
Toddlers Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park
We all know that toddlers are bundles of energy and our Toddlers Trundles are the perfect way to burn it off! These short, fun walks and activities are a great way to entertain the little ones in the fresh air while chatting to like minded parents. After the walk and activities, head back to the Centre for hot drinks and squash whilst the toddlers have fun with the soft play equipment. To be held every Wednesday up to and including 20 July.
Time: 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Meet: The Visitor Centre Courtyard.
Cost: £2.50 per toddler per trundle.

SATURDAY 30 APRIL TO SUNDAY 15 MAY
Bluebell Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come and explore the spectacular sight of the bluebells of Ryton Wood. This self-led trail starts at the Visitor Centre, from where you purchase your trail sheet, which leads you into Ryton Wood to see and learn about the bluebells. An accompanying children's trail ensures this is the perfect way for all the family to enjoy this natural wonder. Please wear sturdy footwear and long trousers (no flipflops or sandals).
Cost: £1.50 per trail sheet.

(CU = Children's University module)
