Police Remind Motorists Not To Leave Keys In Ignition

Police have issued a warning to motorists to make sure they leave their car secure, even if alighting for a couple of minutes.
The warning comes after two vehicles with keys in the ignition were stolen yesterday.
At Alderminster a Landrover Defender was stolen from farm buildings on November 18. The Landrover, which is a distinctive red with silver at the back of the vehicle, has the registration no. BG04 ZLV. Anyone who saw this vehicle being driven away from Alderminster around 3.30 pm, is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000.
On November 18 at Attleborough Fields in Nuneaton, a white Ford Transit Tipper was stolen at approximately 10.30 am. The van which has S Blurton on the side has the registration no. X134 YCU. Any witnesses who saw the van being driven away is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000.
Warwickshire Police are reminding motorists:
- do not leave the engine running whilst unattended or the keys in the ignition
- always lock your car before leaving unattended
- do not leave the keys in an obvious place such as the glove box
- remove valuables from the vehicle wherever possible
- whenever possible leave your car in a secure garage or in a well lit location
- consider security protection from a car alarm, window etching, steering lock, smart water, Tracker device etc.
