Thefts from vehicles fall by 34.2% in 3 areas of Rugby

Police in Rugby have reported an encouraging 34.2% reduction in thefts from vehicles in three SNT areas between April 1, 2009 and December 24, 2009.
These priority areas in Rugby - Rugby Town Centre, Rugby Town North and Rugby Town West - are geographic locations that have previously seen the highest number of incidents and crimes in Warwickshire.
Chief Inspector Bob Musgrove said: "This reduction shows that Warwickshire Police takes the public's concern over vehicle crime seriously and are committed to protecting people from harm.
"Theft from motor vehicles is a shared target between Warwickshire Police and the Community Safety Partnership. These reduction shave been achieved through effective partnership working."
Keith Newell, Community Safety Partnership Manager, said: "We have worked hard with our partners to tackle thefts from vehicles and we are pleased that the work is starting to pay off.
"These reductions in theft from vehicles show that working together can make a real difference. We share the problem, the resources and the responsibility."
