Pub Of The Year As Voted By CAMRA.
The Rugby Tap Room, the town's only Micropub, has been voted Pub of the Year 2015 by Rugby CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). The business located at 3-4 St Matthews Street has been trading for just over a year and will be presented with the award on Friday 12 Feb at 8pm at the Rugby Tap Room by members of the local CAMRA group.
Rugby Tap, a specialist beer, wine and spirits store opened in the town centre in 2012. From the beginning locally brewed Ales were a large part of the offering both in bottle and unusually for an off-licence straight from the barrel into a refillable ‘growler'. From there the business went from strength to strength and was voted into the Good Beer Guide 2015 and 2016 editions.
In the summer of 2014 the adjoining shop unit became available and Colin Arthur and his team soon opened the Rugby Tap Room a traditional Alehouse serving mainly local ales straight from the barrel, along with a superb range of bottles
available from the off-licence.
Both sides are open every day from 10am until 6pm/7pm (Sunday 12 - 3pm) with the Micropub staying open until 10pm every Friday and Saturday night. Other nights including music are on an ad hoc basis
and advertised via social media.
Colin, Proprietor of Rugby Tap, said: "To win this prestigious award in such a great beer town a year after opening Rugby's only Micropub is amazing. For me, Jack and Ken to achieve this is a very proud day for us all'.
