May Bank Holiday Walks with the Ramblers

Author: AboutMyArea HeadOffice Published: 30th April 2010 09:32
Strew the path to happiness with flowers this Bank Holiday by getting out and joining a Ramblers walk, as Britain enters the bluebell season.

This weekend, the woods, hillsides and parks near you could be swathed in beautiful British bluebells - equally lovely in the sun or rain, they will delight all the family.

logoTo celebrate, the Ramblers are holding themed Early May Bank Holiday bluebell walks throughout the South - and 350+ walks in the rest of the country.

The bank holiday strolls are part of a programme of dedicated bluebell-themed walks running throughout flowering season, April - June, around the country.

They are fun, free and everyone is welcome

Tom Franklin, Chief Executive of the Ramblers, comments:

Make your bank holiday the happiest and most beautiful ever, by getting out and joining the Ramblers for a sumptuous springtime walk.

Bluebells are one of the year's highlight, so catch them while you can. With bluebell season beginning, and the weather getting warm, there's no better way to guarantee a great bank holiday than by bounding out on a scenic, mood-boosting walk."

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and just 30 minutes a day can benefit your health. As well as helping control your weight, regular walking can help protect you from heart disease and strokes, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis. Walking helps you chat more, and you release endorphins in mood-boosting daylight, making you happier too.

Ramblers President, Julia Bradbury, comments: Walking is for everyone and anyone: young, old, families, partners and mates can all enjoy a good walk. Get out there for an urban stroll, a hike across the fells or just to walk the dog!"

"The country is stuffed with beautiful walks and a 130,000 mile footpath network - I want everyone to get out there and enjoy it!"
