Ensure you make a difference in Wales in 2021

Published: 30th December 2020 11:12

WALES residents wishing to make a difference this year (2021) within the communities and neighbourhoods where they live are being invited to take up a role in care in the country.

Abacare, which provides care to the elderly and vulnerable in their own homes across Wales, has well-paid, carer positions available that are vital to its service users’ quality of life.

Neil Griffiths, Regional Manager at Abacare, said: “Our services and the care our carers provide are essential to anyone who is elderly and vulnerable who may be experiencing physical disabilities, learning difficulties, spinal injury, mental health difficulties, palliative care and complex neurological difficulties.

“It is important that people who need extra support are able to remain in their own homes, so our carers ensure this happens and assist them with living an independent lifestyle by following COVID-19 guidelines. Research has shown that people who remain at home do better.

“We’re also keen to dispel the myth that a career in care is poorly paid and staff lack training, support and benefits. Flexibility is key and we can offer work at weekends, in evenings and have both part and full-time vacancies available.

“The importance of our carers is key this year, due to COVID-19, as they are protecting the NHS by keeping people safely at home who are vulnerable and elderly.”

Abacare operates a professional Care Management Team that is committed to providing high quality care to individuals in their own homes.

The large team of trained, specialist, care workers provide positive based outcomes and person-centred care to people throughout the UK.

Its core values, instilled into every staff member, include ‘make us proud’, ‘focus on our service users’ wellbeing’, ‘communicate, listen well and speak with respect’, ‘be passionate, honest, caring and considerate’, ‘recruit and develop the very best’ and ‘lead by example’.

It believes it offers inspiring work for inspirational people.

Abacare provides all its staff with full, paid training and colleague shadowing at the start, and they have additional, on the job support from the team 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We give free uniforms and a national staff discount scheme for all major brands with exclusive discounts online and in-store from retailers including Tesco, Primark and Argos, and it also covers holidays and electrical goods. We have jobs available in Wales now with immediate start, no experience necessary, just a willingness to care and to learn.

“We are looking for new recruits to help make a difference within communities across Wales by caring for individuals seeking extra support. Carers who join our team will help to provide domiciliary and live-in care as well as dementia care.”

Anyone interested should contact their nearest branch and details of these can be found at https://abacare.org.uk/contact-us/. People can also find out more information about job vacancies at www.indeed.com/cmp/Abacare.

Abacare is a member of the United Kingdom Homecare Association, Ceretas (formerly British Association of Domiciliary Care), The National Homecare Council and The Information Commissioners Office (Data Protection). It is also registered with the Care Social Services Inspectorate Wales.
