Abacare says everybody needs good neighbours

Published: 1st February 2021 13:34

AN AWARD-WINNING Welsh care agency says individuals can be good neighbours by signing up to provide care to their community (February 2021).

Abacare is offering people the opportunity to train as a carer and provide its services in their neighbourhoods.

Neil Griffiths, Regional Manager at Abacare, which provides care to the elderly and vulnerable in their own homes across Wales, said: “If a person has limited transport or wants to work closer to home it can become difficult to find work, so we’re offering people interested in becoming a carer, the opportunity to work in their own communities and not have to travel further afield.

We have found that there are often people living in the same small community as someone who needs care and support and working in a close-knit community enables a richer relationship between the carer and the person supported, as they can have more in common and can also pop in more easily. This is especially important during the current climate.

People who need our care services love to see a friendly face and to have someone from their own community providing the care they need will help them tremendously. They will also trust a familiar face much quicker than they would do if it was a carer they do not know caring for them.

“Where this kind of match between the person needing support and the carer can be made it also helps enormously with safety during the winter months, as locally based carers can almost always reach someone even in poor conditions such as heavy rain or snow.”

Abacare operates a professional Care Management Team that is committed to providing high quality care to individuals in their own homes.

The large team of trained, specialist, care workers provide positive based outcomes and person-centred care to people throughout the UK.

Its core values, instilled into every staff member, include ‘make us proud’, ‘focus on our service users’ wellbeing’, ‘communicate, listen well and speak with respect’, ‘be passionate, honest, caring and considerate’, ‘recruit and develop the very best’ and ‘lead by example’.

It believes it offers inspiring work for inspirational people.

Neil added: “Anyone who has been inspired by our superheroes at the NHS and those working across the nation as Carers and is considering a career in the caring industry, should get in touch.

“We are fighting against the current economic climate and are filling more positions than ever. This is a great opportunity for those looking for a completely new and exciting opportunity in 2021 to work in this very rewarding role. Being a carer is a really satisfying job and gives people the opportunity to create a worthwhile and long-term career for themselves.”

Abacare provides all its staff with full, paid training and colleague shadowing at the start, and they have additional, on the job support from the team 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We give free uniforms and a national staff discount scheme for all major brands with exclusive discounts online and in-store from retailers including Tesco, Primark and Argos, and it also covers holidays and electrical goods. We have jobs available in Wales now with immediate start, no experience necessary, just a willingness to care and to learn.

“We are looking for new recruits to help make a difference within communities across Wales by caring for individuals seeking extra support. Carers who join our team will help to provide domiciliary and live-in care as well as dementia care.”

Anyone interested should contact their nearest branch and details of these can be found at https://abacare.org.uk/contact-us/. People can also find out more information about job vacancies at www.indeed.com/cmp/Abacare.
