How to make the most of your break times

Published: 13th December 2017 13:23

Over the last ten years, there has been a steady increase in the number of people that are working from home in the UK. Working from home is a brilliant opportunity for you to take control of your time. Instead of commuting to work each day or sitting in a stuffy office, you have the freedom to operate in your own environment. However, working from home can also make it difficult to create a suitable work/life balance. That is why you need to ensure you are taking plenty of breaks. If you are going to avoid running yourself into the ground, you will also need to make the most of them. Below are four ideas to help you with this process.

Have some fun

If you are struggling through a particularly demanding day of work, you need to make sure that your break times are as fun as possible. They should also be a direct contrast to the tasks that you are having to complete. Ideally, you should find an activity that appeals to your interests. Say you are a lover of football. Why not check out the Unibet blog? This is the perfect place for you to escape to during a long and difficult day. Planning fun activities for your break times is also a great way for you to find the motivation to keep going.

Get fit and healthy

Another option is to spend your break times getting fit and healthy. Even if you are tight on time, there are plenty of exercise routines that you can squeeze into ten minutes. This is a brilliant excuse for you to get away from your desk and to do something physical. Furthermore, exercise results in the release of endorphins, so you might find that your ten minute workouts help to improve your mood.

Keep up momentum

If you are someone who struggles with settling down to work, you need to make sure that you don’t lose momentum during your break times. That is why you should consider doing something productive. Perhaps you could reorganise your work area. Maybe you could tidy up your house. Just make sure that you add in a fun element such as listening to music or playing the TV in the background. This will save you from getting fed up with an endless list of tasks and responsibilities.

Take the time to relax

If you struggle to manage your stress levels, it is vital that you use your break times to relax. Why not take up meditation? This is the perfect way for you to free your mind from the pressures of daily life. You could also have a go at yoga, treat yourself to a new book, or take a gentle stroll around your garden. Whatever you decide, just focus on clearing your mind and controlling your breathing. This will help you to return to your work with increased energy levels and a brand new perspective.
