Elves leave their shoes in Northwood!

Author: Joy Tracy Published: 1st May 2012 15:08

Northwood Community Arts hosts Theatre of Widdershins when they present their magical puppet theatre play The Elves And The Shoemaker at 3pm on Saturday 5 May. The venue is The Hall at St Johns Church in Hallowell Road and the show is especially suitable for children aged 3-9 with their families. Tickets at £7 per person or £25 for a family of 4 are available from the ArtReach box office on 01628 675800 or by email to northwoodarts@artreach.biz, and the website can be viewed at www.northwoodcommunityarts.co.uk for other NCA activities and events.

This will be the second family show to be delivered by NCA this spring.
"I have been asked if the Theatre of Widdershins can come to Northwood and here it is with a wonderful story that everyone remembers from childhood book shelves" Joy Tracy NCA project Manager.

In the story the town is the midst of a recession and the barometer of purchasing power has swung in favour of evil businessman Bunyan Soleless. The townspeople seem to be flocking to buy the cheap and poor quality shoes that he is churning out. What can poor Elvis Shumaker do to turn his business around? How will he tempt the well-heeled customers back to his exclusive workshop? Will a face book campaign be the answer?
Inspired by the well-loved tale from Ladybird Books Theatre of Widdershins creates a performance using beautiful handmade puppets, intricate design and original music.

The Community Arts Group was established at St John's in 2006 in response to a lack of arts facilities and opportunities in the area. The aim is to run a developing series of activities building to a regular and sustainable programme of events for the whole community.
