 A Fabulous Day Out!

Following the huge success of the first Waltham Abbey Wool Show, The Crochet Chain and AboutMyArea/EN9 website have joined forces again to organise a second event on Sunday 18th January 2015 at Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel, Old Shire Lane, Waltham Abbey, EN9 3LX from 10am to 4pm.

The Waltham Abbey Wool Show will have exhibitors' stands with luscious hand dyed yarns, beautiful handmade wool and felt items, unique knit and crochet kits, a wide selection of accessories from buttons to crochet hooks for sale, demonstrations of spinning and weaving plus new for 2015 show craft workshops for visitors to have a go at crochet, knitting, felting and spinning.

Claire Montgomerie Editor of Inside Crochet magazineDelighted the wonderful Claire Montgomerie Editor of "Inside Crochet" national magazine will be officially opening the show at 10.00am.  Claire is a textiles designer, writer, teacher, editor and stylist, specialising in knitting and crochet. She enjoys constructing fabrics, garments, creatures and accessories that are fun, quirky and modern, reinventing the products of ancient and traditional needlecraft processes, while retaining all their intricacies and comforting charm.

The Funky Hat competition proved popular at the 2014 show, so this year there will be a "Funky Bag" competition and the organisers are encouraging people to bring along their handmade creations (judging will be held at 1pm on the day). Why not bring along your latest knit or crochet project as well and enjoy the company of others on the day or join in and make a crochet or knitted square to make blankets for Age UK charity - donations of wool or completed squares will be appreciated.

This show is not just for those addicted to wool as it is for anyone who appreciates good quality hand-made items as there will be a room packed full of unique products looking for a new home.

Diana Bensted of The Crochet Chain and organiser of the wool show: "We were delighted that our first show proved so popular with the exhibitors and visitors and gave us the opportunity to challenge the outdated old fashioned view of traditional crafts and show that knitting and crochet can be modern, exciting and funky".

Kate Towerzey, Site Editor of AboutMyArea/EN9 website and organiser of the wool show: "Excited to be hosting this event in our town for a second year, bringing together an inspiring mix of natural yarn hand dyers, hand-made garment designers, producers of tools and accessories and guilds to create a memorable and enjoyable annual day out".

So hold on to your Christmas money, there will be lots of choice to spend it on!  For an extra special treat why not book yourself and a friend on the luxury package which includes dinner, workshop (choice of 2), overnight accommodation on Saturday, breakfast and entrance to the show on Sunday all for £89.00 each (based on twin occupancy) or book on a workshop session on show day or enjoy a delicious Sunday Roast Lunch or Afternoon Tea!  A special offer price on refreshments will be available all show visitors and parking is free for the day.
