Top restaurants to visit in the United Kingdom

Published: 17th April 2020 17:59

Those who have never been to the United Kingdom could miss out on some precious gems when it comes to the local cuisine. This is why we've created our list of the restaurants you should pay a visit to whenever you find yourself near these places. Going from casual places to fine dining spots, here is what we decided to put in the narrowest choice of top non-mainstream restaurants in the UK. We have been helped in this task by the experts of Bettingtips4You: they normally rank players and sportive teams, but with the lack of sports at the moment they have had time to help us in ranking restaurants!

Sambal Shiok in London, England

We’ll begin the journey with a highly popular Malaysian restaurant in London. Even though a place owned by Mandy Yin is popular for a spicy soup with noodles, you can practically make no mistake with any of the amazing flavour combinations.

L’Escargot Bleu in Edinburgh, Scotland

The place is open to the public for just more than a decade, but it has already conquered the hearts and stomachs of people in the Scottish capital. You can figure by the name that it is owned by a Frenchman, Fred Berkmiller. The place brings the unique experience of Paris streets to Edinburgh. The menu is French, but ingredients are Scottish – a phenomenal blend to meet anyone’s desires. Cassoulet is our top choice here.

The Dining Room in Abersoch, Wales

This village in Gwynedd is home to only 800 residents, but also one of the best restaurants we’ve visited in the United Kingdom. Abersoch is actually a popular seaside resort and a place we'd recommend you to visit. The Dining Room is a restaurant owned and entirely run by a single man named Si Toft. The local ingredients make most of the menu which is generally influenced by bountiful international cuisines. Given the location, fish is not surprisingly the main specialty, but you will also be thrilled with the taste of the lamb tongue dish without doubts.

Perilla in London, England

We return to London because of Ben Mark’s (the main chef) outstanding dishes in Perilla. It's not only about the fantastic tasting menu but a fabulous atmosphere featuring large windows and beautiful plants all over the place. The restaurant also has a tiny bar area and can be a great solution for special occasions too.

Black Radish in London, England

How many times have you stumbled upon sounding menus that left you disappointed? You certainly won't be in for such an experience at Black Radish whose chef, Toby Cartwright, is super-creative. Anyone who decides to pay a visit to this specific restaurant will have a pleasant time tasting one of the classical local dishes in an inviting environment.

The Black Swan at Oldstead in North Yorkshire, England

We have put the less popular spots to the list, but this one is an exception. The Black Swan is Michelin Star awarded restaurant rated as the best in the whole world in 2017. The 16-century building was transformed into a restaurant in 2006 when Tom and Anne Banks bought it. Even though the prices are somewhat higher than those you will find at most of the other restaurants from this list, these are justified thanks to a stunning mix of unique flavours and fantastic food.

Ultracomida in Narbeth, Wales

We will complete the list with a small restaurant in southwest Wales. If you ever get the chance to visit this small community in Pembrokeshire, do not hesitate to head over to Ultracomida and try their fabulous meatballs – the restaurant’s specialty. As the name of the place suggests, you are in for a blend of Welsh and Spanish cuisines. On top of the food, we’d also warmly recommend the wines sold as pairings to delicacies.
