Ford Fiesta: The Best City Car

Published: 21st July 2020 13:48

The Ford Fiesta is a small hatchback that has been surprisingly popular. And that too, with good reason.

The car has established a reputation among people as being incredibly affordable and fun to drive around the city. It has a small, yet powerful, selection of engines that don't take up much fuel and give every driver an enjoyable experience.

The Fiesta has a range of models that fit every person. You can pick one from any line that fits your budget. These also have a good resale value. If you total it, any scrap car Birmingham will still offer a better amount than most other rides.

That is why it makes sense why people did not hesitate to purchase the latest model as soon as it came to the dealerships.

Performance

The Engine

The lowest engine option for the Ford Fiesta is a mere 1.1 litre petrol with 74 hp. That feels rather insignificant when taken on faster roads. However, the more powerful options like the 1.0 turbocharged Ecoboost models are much more enjoyable.

It starts with the Ecoboost 95 that offers pretty much everything you are looking for in a car. But if you have a little more cash to spare, then check out the 125 and 140 models. They are faster and sweeter. But the fastest model is the Fiesta ST hot hatch.

Handling

One of the reasons why the Ford Fiesta is incredibly popular is its handling. When you are behind the wheel in this lovely city car, you might feel like driving a sports car. Its sharp handling and perfectly weighted steering offer every driver a fantastic experience.

If you are looking for a more sports-like experience, take a look at the ST models. They have a sports suspension to make the car lower, and they also have a powerful engine to go with it. Making the ride all the more exciting.

Comfort

Compared to other small hatchbacks, you actually sit higher on the Ford Fiesta. But don't think of it as a bad thing, it can be more fun. Also, you get a better view of what's ahead.

The comfortable seats of the car can hold you in position through all the corners and turns. But, again, it is still incredibly comfortable. If you get a more expensive model, then you can even get adjustable lumbar support

Interior

Visibility, Sensors, and Cameras

The Fiesta has a slightly round shape that can comprise your visibility level. Especially the rear windows. The heated windscreens are a great addition, as they can de-ice themselves during the winter seasons.

Most of the models in the Fiesta have standard rear parking sensors. If you add a little more money, then you can add front sensors and cameras as well.

Interior Quality

When looking at the interior quality, the Ford Fiesta is not the best car in the market. However, it does reasonably well when compared to market standards.

The Fiesta doesn't have much of a solid feel like some of the other vehicles do, but its neither plush. You will also notice some rather unappealing plastic on the lower part of the dashboard.

Space

Front

Although the sloping windscreen might not make it seem like they do, the Fiesta models have plenty of front space for its drivers and passengers. But if you are rather tall, then it might be wise to skip the glass roof option.

It also has a considerable amount of legroom and enough elbow space for two broad adults to comfortably fit.

Back

Unlike the front, Fiesta doesn't offer the best rear seating. If you are above six feet, then you might have some trouble sitting at the back because the leg and headroom aren't as much as its competitors'. However, two people can comfortably sit at the back, but three adults might be a far reach.

Boot

Even though the Fiesta models are rather small, the cars do offer plenty of boot space. To give you an idea, you can store up to five carry-on suitcases in the boot.

If you want to further extend the boot, then the Fiesta does offer the ability to drop the rear seats. However, it does leave a step on the floor.
