Rugby Union: Moseley face relegation nightmare
Published: 28th February 2011 22:46 |
After a regular season that saw Moseley win only 5 of their 22 games and finish in 11th place in the Championship, the Billesley-based team now has to compete in the relegation playoffs. The so-called ‘group of death' comprises Moseley, close neighbours Birmingham & Solihull, Esher and Plymouth. Each team plays the other three home and away - the team that finishes bottom of the group is despatched to the ignominy of National Division 1, which along with loss of central RFU funding, completes the nightmare scenario.
Moseley start their campaign of six matches on Friday 11th March with an away fixture at Plymouth. This is followed by the next instalment of their local derby rivalry with Birmingham & Solihull on Saturday 19th March, with kick off at three o'clock at Billesley Common. The return fixture at Damson Park, Solihull is on Sunday 10th April, kick off 1pm.
