True Summer Writing Workshop, Moseley Park

Author: Valley Projects Published: 15th July 2012 13:58

'In my beginning is my end, in succession, houses rise and fall, crumble, are extended, are removed, destroyed, restored, or in their place, an open field...'

'T.S.Eliot, East Coker

This summer arts partnership Half Moon are hosting an outdoor writing workshop in Moseley Park, Moseley Village, lead by professional poet & writer Helen Calcutt.

The workshop will start on the East side, taking a central path, with two or three stop off points along the way. Here writers will be encouraged to gather inspiration and raw material, casting a poetic eye over the landscape, in particular, its sense of movement and change. There is no preferred genre - playwrights, poets, novelists et al are welcome. The theme will be 'Endings and Beginnings', thinking about the turning of the season, seasonal cycles, and personal cycles of development.  Writing will continue at the Fighting Cocks (tbc) with time for lunch, refreshments and readings.

Of the workshop Helen Calcutt says 'This is a chance for you to explore your own inspirations in a unique setting, with professional guidance and support - whether an experienced artist or a beginner, this workshop is sure to get the creative juices flowing...'

This is also a chance to work with a highly regarded poetic talent, published with Perdika (London), and fresh from a summer of festivals, sharing a platform with leading Welsh writer Paul Henry.  Helen is a popular creative writing tutor, working for institutions such as The Startford Literary Festival, The Wenlock Festival, Writing West Midlands, Creative Alliance and the Poetry Society.

Suitable for writers, ramblers, photographers, families & arts enthusiasts alike - actually there are no limitations, so long as you bring a pen, some paper and an open mind....
