Ready Steady Bake

During March - Birmingham St Mary's Hospice's birthday month - people across Birmingham and Sandwell will be getting into the baking mood to help raise funds for their local Hospice. Whether you bake or buy, get out your best china or buy vintage paper plates, all the monies raised will help over 1,000 local families living with terminal illness.
You could hold a cake sale at home, a coffee morning in your local church or a bake-off at work. Stephen Teixeria and Katie Platts from the Workforce Intelligence and Development Team at Health Education West Midlands did just that and organised a work bake-off in support of their local Hospice, where Stephen's wife works supporting patients from the kitchen. Stephen says:
"We organised a bake-off for Ready Steady Bake last year, which was a resounding success; we decided to hold a second event and give it a savoury twist rather than sweet - so samosas, pies, pasties and even cheese and bacon muffins to name but a few items that were made and sold."
"I have seen first-hand the hard work and dedication that the staff at the Hospice give to the patients and their families. For us here at Health Education West Midlands we found that the campaign was a very good opportunity to bring our different departments together in a fun and engaging way. We had three prize categories: best overall, best tasting and best presented. People were invited to take part in the competition and/or to buy the goods after the voting."
Stephen and Katie's Bake-offs raised a fantastic £521.47 and now they are encouraging local people, like you, to sign up for Ready Steady Bake 2015:
"People really enjoy these events and it is a fun way to get together, have some tasty treats and do some easy fundraising for a great cause."
Sarah Barber-Jones, Fundraising Projects Officer says:
"Ready Steady Bake is a fun and simple way for people to support their local hospice. All monies raised from this campaign will help support local people who are dealing with terminal illness in Birmingham and Sandwell."
