Haskins Garden Centre spreads Christmas cheer to members of the community

Author: Online Stories Published: 5th December 2019 15:10

Haskins Garden Centre in Snowhill has donated a Christmas tree and decorations to Glen Vue Community Hub to spread Christmas cheer to more than 300 people that use the hub.
Members of the community aged from 50 to 102 rely on the centre's services that are provided by Age UK East Grinstead & District. Members use the hub to receive lunches and take part in a number of activities including arts and crafts, games and tai chi.
Lana Scott, Community Integration Manager for Age UK East Grinstead & District, said: "We are overwhelmed by the generosity that Haskins has shown this festive season. Christmas can be a difficult time for many, and the elderly within our community can often feel isolated. Our centre encourages socialisation and brings people together to take part in a number of activities.
"This donation will have a huge impact on our centre which was previously looking bare and not very festive. We are looking forward to decorating the tree with our members and providing them with some happy Christmas memories that they might not have had otherwise."
David Lilly, Snowhill's centre manager, added: "Inclusivity is something that we promote across all our centres at Haskins. Christmas is a magical time of year and we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to bring some of this festive spirit to the hub for all of the members to enjoy."
Haskins Snowhill is located in West Park Road, Copthorne, West Sussex. The temporary building that has housed the centre will close at 4.30pm on Sunday December 8 2019. This is the final phase of the centre's redevelopment plan and must close to allow the final stages of the project to take place.
Snowhill's redevelopment plan has been a 12-month project which will culminate in the main centre re-opening for business in spring 2020.
Follow Haskins on social media to see regular updates on the redevelopment and please visit www.haskins.co.uk for more information on the expansion.
