Black Rabbit pub named ‘Supreme Champion’ at the Hall & Woodhouse Managed House Awards

Author: Online Stories Published: 12th June 2019 12:29

The Black Rabbit public house in Arundel has been voted ‘Supreme Champion' in the Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) Managed House Awards, beating off competition from H&W's other pubs across the south.
The Supreme Champion Award is awarded annually to the managed house within the Hall & Woodhouse family that gains the highest overall score across a range of different categories. These include food and beer quality, team training, sales levels, marketing and going the extra mile to make a guest's day.
General Manager of the Black Rabbit, Ian Gort commented: "I am delighted that the Black Rabbit has been recognised as ‘Supreme Champion' in the Hall & Woodhouse Managed House Awards. This is testament to the hard work, talent and dedication of the entire team, who all go above and beyond to provide our guests with an exceptional experience to really make their day."
The Black Rabbit at Arundel is situated on the banks of the River Arun, with stunning views over the wetlands to Arundel Castle. In 2016, Hall & Woodhouse invested £700,000 to preserve the riverbank and keep the jetties usable by pleasure boats. There is plenty of outside seating directly overlooking the water and the Black Rabbit is now one of the most popular destinations locally to drink, dine out and socialise.
The results were announced in front of more than 140 guests at a gala dinner and ceremony held at the Crown Hotel in Blandford, Dorset, where Ian Gort accepted the award and a bottle of champagne. The prize also included tickets for a trip to Lisbon which is sponsored by Heineken.
Hall & Woodhouse Managing Director, Matt Kearsey, said: "The Black Rabbit at Arundel is a worthy winner in the face of very stiff competition. Guests receive hospitality of the highest standard from the pub's entire team and the resulting ambience, set within a beautiful location, is the best possible reflection of the values we uphold at Hall & Woodhouse."
Hall & Woodhouse runs an estate of 42 high-quality pubs across Sussex. The company plays an active role in the local community through its initiative, The Community Chest Awards, which provides grants to local voluntary groups and causes. In 2018, Hall & Woodhouse awarded just under £25,000 to 24 local causes across the south-east of England.
