B&Q reopens ALL 288 UK branches after coronavirus shutdown

B&Q reopens ALL 288 UK branches after coronavirus shutdown

Staying home alone can be a dream for some and a nightmare for others. While we are all locked at home, it could be good to take advantage of the time given to us. And even though we are at home, it shouldn't stop us from doing things we enjoy, whether it's reading, relaxation, writing, sports, cooking, or any other activity.

After spending several weeks in quarantine, some people may not know what to do, while others have so many activities planned that they may not know where to start. Between video games such as Fortnite, Vegas Slots, Just Dance or GTA, among others, and Netflix series such as, La casa de papel, Elite, The Last Dance, Las chicas del cable, etc. there is plenty to do. But some people need to take the air and go green, so the reopening of B&Q will probably make some people happy.

Indeed, B&Q has reopened ALL its UK branches last week after the coronavirus closure. The handyman store announced that all 288 of its stores in the UK were open but with "strict social distancing measures in place". As you may know, B&Q gradually reopened its stores after the physical closure of all stores on March 25.

The IT hardware chain had been named an "essential retailer" but initially operated an online service only. When the coronavirus shutdown began, customers could only order items for home delivery or click and pick up on the B&Q diy.com website. For click and collect orders, customers were asked to wait for their items outside the front of closed stores.

Which stores and restaurants have reopened?

The following street chains began reopening stores after the coronavirus stopped. You should note that most food chains are open for take-out and home delivery only. B&Q reopened its first 14 stores to the public on April 14th. Another 61 stores opened on April 22, followed by another 80 stores on April 23 and another 130 stores yesterday, April 29.

Security measures in the recently reopened stores include plexiglass screens at checkouts and two-metre marking distances across the shops. On top of that, customers have to queue to enter the stores because of B&Q limiting the number of authorized shoppers at the same time. The equipment chain has also installed disinfection stations for trolleys and the stores will only accept card and contactless payments.

B&Q authorizes purchases for two people so that they can serve larger items themselves. Buyers from B&Q and Homebase flock to the reopened stores as the locked British begin to venture out.

Graham Bell, CEO of B&Q, said: "Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our colleagues at work and our customers when they shop. In all our stores, we have strict social distancing measures in place. Whether you shop in our stores or online, we continue to ask all our customers to follow the government's social distancing guidelines and shop responsibly only when they need to".

The retailer has temporarily suspended services such as kitchen and bathroom design, paint mixing, wood cutting and key cutting. But it has re-launched its TradePoint service in all newly opened stores.

Basic business hours in re-opened stores are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., although opening hours may vary. Shoppers should use the online store locator to check the latest store information. B&Q has nine stores yet to re-open in the Republic of Ireland and Guernsey. In total, the DIY chain has 297 stores.

This news is sure to delight DIY and gardening enthusiasts. Of course, it goes without saying that everyone must individually respect the barrier gestures and not put staff and other customers in any danger. It is essential to respect safety distances, to wear a surgical mask and to disinfect your hands thoroughly.
