It’s that time again. Every two years, English football fans believe that this time it will be different, and the Three Lions will roar to victory and win a major tournament for the first time since 1966. The delayed UEFA EURO 2020 is upon us this summer, with London’s Wembley Stadium taking centre stage for much of the tournament, hosting both semi-finals and the final in July.
If you haven’t been fortunate enough in the ticket ballots to bag tickets to watch England on home soil this summer, the capital has plenty of venues – both indoors and outdoors – that are screening all of England’s Group D games and hopefully several more in the knockout stages too. England are currently the pre-tournament favourites to win their first European Championships with the leading bookmakers. They are priced as short as 9/2 to win with Paddy Power, who are one of the top three recommended promotions for EURO 2020 bettors this summer, thanks largely to their free bet builders when wagering on the Outright Winner market.
For those with ‘football fever’, read on as we outline the biggest and best places to catch screenings of England’s EURO 2020 campaign across London.
Euro Warehouse – Costa Del Tottenham
If you are looking for somewhere spacious for you and your friends to spread out and relax, Costa Del Tottenham’s 5,000 sq ft ‘Euro Warehouse’ is just the ticket. Designed to replicate the look and feel of an iconic ‘1989 warehouse party’, the Euro Warehouse contains two 13ft x 8ft LED screens which should give you a great view of the action wherever you sit or stand. Street food outlets abound here too, which makes a £7.50 entry fee rather good value.
Skylight Rooftop – Wapping
Wapping’s stunning and stylish Skylight Rooftop bar is a picturesque setting to watch the EURO 2020 action. This Canal-side bar has a plethora of large LED TVs, as well as a 4m x 2.5m LED screen offering great views of the games for up to 600 guests. There’s also smaller screens for those preferring a more intimate setting under the pergola. You can also choose to head into the Cocktail Cinema, which offers a lounge-style viewing experience with food and drink service on tap.
BOXPARK – Shoreditch & Croydon (Wembley only for stadium ticket holders)
BOXPARK will be one of the most popular locations to watch EURO 2020 indoors and outside. With three separate venues across the capital in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley, there are suitable locations for football fans both sides of the Thames. The Wembley BOXPARK will be off-limits to those without tickets for games at Wembley Stadium, with this BOXPARK being used as a dedicated fanpark. In Shoreditch and Croydon, you can also rely on a choice of over 30 street food vendors that will have you licking your lips during the half-time intervals.
Flat Iron Square – Southwark
Southwark’s Flat Iron Square will be screening every kick of the EURO 2020 competition, with “huge outdoor screens” welcoming visitors, guaranteeing an electric atmosphere – particularly for the England games. Most of the games involving England and the other Home Nations are already sold out in the group stage, so it might be worth keeping your eyes peeled on the Flat Iron Square website to book tickets if England reach the knockout stage.
Pub on the Park – Hackney
The Pub on the Park in London Fields boasts a large outdoor park-side area that’s ripe for EURO 2020 screening action. The pub already has seven big screens that will be covering all of the group stage and knockout games. Even if the weather doesn’t prove to be as warm as we hope, you can snuggle up to one of the many gas-fired outdoor heaters – if the football doesn’t have you sweating, of course!
Last but by no means least, Pop Brixton is one of the coolest locations in South London to catch a EURO 2020 game. Its 2m x 3.5m open-air LED screen will offer excellent views of the action for several hundreds of guests. The covered greenhouse area also contains a string of smaller screens. The England games require pre-booking for seating. Groups of friends may find the £25 deal for four guests and a pitcher of Red Stripe to share very palatable.
Wherever you end up watching EURO 2020 in London, rest assured there are plenty of fun yet safe places to hang out this summer.
