Mark Gwynne Jones is a poet who works in film, on stage, in print and with music. During his travels Mark has sold poetry to the CIA, won The National Trust Poetry Competition and thrice won the Buxton Festival Fringe. He currently tours with The Psychicbread providing an unforgettable show of music and poetry.

Mark Gwynne Jones

An engaging and energetic performer, he is well known for surreal, mind-altering poetry with an almost music hall edge. Mixing humour and poignancy with great skill he keenly observes the alien qualities inherent but unnoticed in the world around us. It's contagious, gritty and sometimes startlingly sensitive.

Imagine something like shamanic wordplay and surrealist humour that gets you closer to the truth by taking your mind sideways to somewhere that seems somehow very familiar, as seen from a startling new angle. But don't just take our word for it, here's what some other people have to say:

‘Inspired... one of the most accomplished performance poets in the land...drawing the audience into a world where things are not quite what they seem' The Guardian

‘I always stipulate that who ever is on with me hasn't got to be any good - this one got past me - I don't know how, but heads will roll.' John Cooper Clarke

Beautiful, powerful, moving and incredibly funny - sometimes all at the same time - don't miss this chance to see Mark Gwynne Jones solo at Hammer & Tongue.  Find out more at http://www.psychicbread.org

Alison Brumfitt

And he'll be  warmly supported by the elegantly funny, quirky poetical stylings of festival favourite Alison Brumfitt
