Wappenham, a village 5 miles west of Towcester, is having its 2019 annual Beer and Music Festival on Friday 28th (evening) and Saturday 29th June (noon onwards to 10pmish). At the start in 2014 there were 12 barrels of beer, this year it's 16 barrels, from many local breweries, and plenty of cider and also plenty to eat. There is live music on both days, with bands giving their time up voluntarily: the organisers have raised about £12,000 for our chosen charities in these years and we hope more this year.

Michael Payne, one of the main organisers, says: "We fund the over 70’s Christmas dinner in the village and contribute towards the upkeep of the village hall.  Our main beneficiary is The Friends of Danetre Hospital based in Daventry.  This charity is purely voluntary with no paid employees, so every penny we raise goes directly to helping buy vital equipment for visitors to the hospital"

At time of writing there will be Gun Dog Ales’ ‘Hop Goes the Beagle’ and ‘Jack Spaniel’, and beers from other breweries such as Pot Belly, Phipps, , North Cotswold, Nobbies, and Great Oakley.  Bands include Rogue State Circus, The Bisons and DC/73, the Yellow Dog Blues Band and an acoustic duo hazyjane.  Friday evening has more of an acoustic and folk vibe, with Hannah Fowles, The Stokes, Roaming Spirits and Brendan and Folk.  As last year, there will be two stages for a quick changeover.

More details of bands and beers and catering will be following on the new Festival website at www.wappenhambeerfestival.co.uk

There will be camping available, picnic space, and also food on sale.  Admittance is free and all proceeds go to village charities and The Friends of Danetre Hospital charity, so come along and support the event with family and friends.

Location: Wappenham Village Hall and surroundings, School Lane, Wappenham NN12 8SG (signage in village). www.wappenhambeerfestival.co.uk
