Neston Ladies Club Day 2019
Author: Carrie Spacey | Published: 7th June 2019 10:10 |
A bit of sun, a splash of rain, and everywhere there were flowers. Yes, it was once again time for the ladies and girls of Neston to walk in the Female Society's annual procession.
Keeping it in the family: Team Salon Dene were out in force and looking very glamorous.
Now in its 205th year, the procession set off towards the Parish Church from the Malt Shovel, led as usual by the Scots Guard Association pipe band. Taking part for the first time this year was the new Mayor of Neston, Cllr Dom Roberts, accompanied by his wife Sarah. Justin Madders MP was there, and so were a trio of Head Teachers: Rob Golding (Neston Primary), Keith Simpson (Neston High) and Andrew Hutchings (Parkgate Primary.)
Roads in the town centre were closed for the procession, the service at The Cross and musical entertainments, allowing everyone to soak up the atmosphere on this, the most important date in the Neston calendar.

Following prayers, hymns and the National Anthem at the Cross, the procession made its way to Neston Civic Hall for the traditional afternoon tea.
As always, a huge thank you to the committee of Neston Female Society for all their hard work; to Neston Town Council for funding; Hip & Harmony CIC for organising the entertainment and the numerous volunteers who helped the day go smoothly.
If anyone is interested in volunteering for this and various other community events throughout the year, please contact Zaria Shreef: zaria@nestoncyc.org.uk.
