The members of Winchester Symphony Orchestra are a friendly bunch of widely differing ages and backgrounds. We meet to rehearse every Monday evening between September and March in Winchester, Hampshire.

We usually perform in public twice a year. Our main concerts are usually in November and March and are held at New Hall, Winchester College. Our concert programmes have included some rarely played pieces as well as the popular ones. Read a review of a recent concert.

The orchestra supports charities by playing a concert annually in aid of a specific group. Recently we supported The Children's Society with an afternoon children's concert.

The social side of the orchestra is important too - our party is an annual treat with good food and entertainment. We also meet throughout the year in small chamber groups.

We welcome and encourage new members, particularly experienced string players.
