Published: 12th March 2013 12:32

The Green Deal is the UK Government's initiative to increase energy efficiency for millions of households.

100% Free Green Deal ECO Grants are available now to anyone in receipt of specific benefits, credits or allowances and also to those living in areas of higher fuel poverty.

AP Mitchell Energy-saving improvements include:

  • External Wall Insulation
  • Boiler Replacement
  • Loft Insulation
  • Cavity Wall Insulation
  • Plus many more.

AP Mitchell Ltd in Neston can help you determine which measures could be installed in your home to improve your energy efficiency and save you money on bills.

No need to change your energy supplier, this initiative is purely about reducing your carbon footprint.

Whether you are in rented accommodation or a home owner, if you can provide evidence supporting the criteria below then please get in touch now!

These grants are in place to help reduce the cost of living by reducing your energy bills, savings in band G to A properties can be £1000's.

AP Mitchell are an approved service provider that are working alongside Plumbase who have agreed a 100 million spend over the nxt 2 years with E-on. This is a government regulated scheme and must be taken advantage of to reduce our commitment to carbon reduction of 30% by 2020.

Green Deal Grants & ECO Funds

The grant-funded element of the Green Deal is available now and is known as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO). Under ECO, Energy Suppliers including British Gas, E.ON, Npower, Scottish Power, SSE and EDF are obliged to pay for Home Insulation and Heating in households that are in fuel poverty.

Who qualifies for a 100% ECO Funding?

In order to qualify for Eco funding, you must be a home owner or private tenant (not Council/Housing Association). Someone living in the property must also be in receipt of at least one of these six benefits (with a qualifying component where applicable):

  • State Pension Credit (top up to State Pension)
  • Child Tax Credit (household income under £15,850)
  • Income Support (with qualifying component 1)
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance (with qualifying component 1)
  • Income-Related Employment Support Allowance (with qualifying component 1 or 2)
  • Working Tax Credit (household income under £15,850 AND qualifying component 3)

Qualifying Component 1 (with relevant main benefit above)

Child under 16
Child under 20 in full-time education (but not university)

Qualifying Component 2 (with relevant main benefit above)

Work Related Activity or Support Component

Qualifying Component 3 (with relevant main benefit above)

Disabled Worker Element
Aged 60 or Over

Householders in some parts of the country may also qualify for Loft, Cavity Wall and External Wall insulation if they live in a postcode area where there is a higher likelihood of fuel poverty.

If you live in one of these areas, you can claim free insulation regardless of benefits or circumstances. Note that this does not apply to Boiler Replacement as you must receive a qualifying benefit.

Hard to Treat Properties

All Properties classed as hard to treat, such as solid brick walls, stone walls or hard to treat cavity walls, will also be eligible for ECO funding under carbon reduction obligation.

Each property will require a Green Deal assessment to determine which energy saving/generating measures can be installed.
