Lee Valley 10k & 3k Family Fun Run - Sunday 12th July 2015

Author: Lee Valley Park Published: 25th June 2015 13:49

Lee Valley Park 10k Run

Fancy a challenge? There's still time to enter Lee Valley's 10k and 3k Family Fun Run

Why not challenge yourself this year at the popular annual Lee Valley 10k or join in the Family Fun Run taking place on Sunday 12th July 2015 in River Lee Country Park, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 1AB.

This annual event starts and finishes at the Showground in the 1,000 acre River Lee Country Park next door to Lee Valley White Water Centre. The race course winds its way along the scenic, winding park pathways running alongside streams, lakes and canals, providing an attractive, flat and traffic-free route.

There will also be refreshments, and free pre and post run massages and toilets available at the site.

Event registration is at 9.00am and participants entering the 10k run will start at 10:00am and the race will be chip timed for accuracy.  The route will be signposted and well marshalled in key points to ensure you follow the correct pathways and for your safety.

Participants entering the 3k Fun Run will start at 11.00am and there will be no time limit on the route, although event will conclude at 1.00pm.

Each participant will be given a free event t-shirt to commemorate the challenge and a bottle of water when they finish. Prizes for the 10k male and female winners in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and all runners in the Fun Run will each receive a medal.

The beautiful routes for the 10k and 3k Fun Run routes are within the River Lee Country Park so you don't need to run on any public roads or up steep hills as it is a flat one lap race, although the terrain varies from grass to gravel, tarmac to woodland.

From the start the routes will follow the Park's designated pathways along rivers, through woodland and around lakes and will bring you back to your starting position to cross the finishing line.

This year's start gantry will be supplied by sponsors Runners World, Southgate who will also be onsite selling products. Look out for discounted vouchers included in your runner entry packs!

The entrance to Showground, Lee Valley Regional Park is located on Highbridge Street, Waltham Abbey, Essex, EN9 1AB on the bridge and there is free parking available on site.

The race entrance costs are 10k Run £12 in advance and for the 3k Fun Run £5 (under 5's are free of charge).  Limited spaces will be available on the day for the 10k run at a cost of £15 each.  Online advance registration is available until 6th July.

10k runners must be 16 years on the race day. Fun Run participants entering individually must be 11 years of age or over on the day of the event, all children under this age must be accompanied by an adult.

Online registration has now closed for Lee Valley's annual 10k and 3k Family Fun Run, but you can still enter on the day. Registration at 9.00am on Sunday 12th July. Or why not come along and cheer on the participants.

You need to log in before you can do that! It's only a quick registration process to join the AMA network and completely free.
