Come and join in the festive fun
Cavalcade of Light, one of the most popular local events of the year returns to Waltham Abbey Town Centre in Essex on Friday 24th November 2017 when thousands of people come to watch the parade and Christmas light switching on ceremony.
The event begins with the switching on of the lights at the Town Hall at 7.15pm and the procession parade will start at Cornmill car park (behind the Town Hall), into Highbridge Street, across Market Square and down Sun Street ending at Darby Drive car park with Father Christmas himself leading the way in his sleigh accompanied by Waltham Abbey Mayor Michael Fitch.
The Town Centre Christmas trees and decorations will light up the town and in addition to the costumed parade there will be a fun fair in the Market Square plus lots of the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants will be open, so why not treat yourself and your family to a meal out or a take away.
Why not come into the town centre early and visit Epping Forest District Museum from 5-7pm as they are holding an evening of Carols, Crafts and Christmas fun to celebrate the Cavalcade of Light event. Free entry and free refreshments (although donations welcome). Craft activities are £2.50 each.
Waltham Abbey Church will be open from 6pm that evening with tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies being served to warm up the Cavalcade spectators. Everyone welcome.
Wrap up warm and enjoy a great community event to get you in the Christmas mood.
There is a competition held for the best entries in the Cavalcade of Light parade with prizes of £1,000 for the Best Float Entry and £500 for the Best Pedestrian Entry, so why not enter this year to raise awareness in the town of your club, group or business. Everyone local welcome.
If you are interested in taking part or you require more information please call Sarah Colley at the Town Hall on 01992 714949.
