The Solent Way is a 60 mile long distance coastal walk taking you from Milford-upon-Sea through to Emsworth Harbour. You can join it locally with this walk taking you from Hill Head through to Gosport. This part of it is 8 miles and takes approxmately 3-4 hours to complete.
Solent Way
From the tiny harbour of Hill Head over looking Tichfield Haven National Nature Reserve, The Solent Way follows a shingle beach through to Lee-on-the-Solent. Follow the Promenade along the beach to arrive at Stokes Bay, full of Naval History. There is a fort out to see and a land fort at the Western end of the bay.
The route goes inland before returning to the water's edge at Gosport where views over to Portsmouth can be enjoyed.
There are several attractions close by with Royal Navy Submarine Museum and Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower. Portsmouth is a short ferry trip across the water.
