Are You Hungary for a Challenge?

Published: 11th August 2011 12:25

Trek through the stunning Bukk mountains of Hungary between the 4th and 11th May 2012 as The Rainbow Centre launches the Hungary Challenge to mark the grand finale of it 21st Anniversary Year.

The Rainbow Centre is offering walking enthusiasts the chance to spend a week trekking through some of Hungary's most beautiful mountains and forests, exploring its ancient history and sampling its local traditions not to mention its wine.

Walking by day through the Bukk Mountains one of the most beautiful, wild and romantic areas in whole country, trekkers will stay in family run guest houses, hotels and even a mountain hut. The trek will pass through magnificent forests and grazing pastures and climb to vista points which offer stunning views over this beautiful region. Trekkers will also have the opportunity enjoy the diverse wildlife including deer, wild boar, and some rare species of birds as well as an abundance of glorious spring flowers.

The natural beauty of Hungary isn't all there is on offer as the trip includes site seeing in the capital city, Budapest,  an evening of wine tasting in the historic town of Eger, and a visit to the Bogacs thermal spa to ease those tired muscles. The week ends with a tour of the world renown Peto Institute which has pioneered the treatment of individuals suffering from brain injuries such a cerebral palsy through a system of Conductive Education.

The Hungary Challenge is the brainchild of The Rainbow Centre's Community and Events Fundraiser Julie Woodward, who said ‘ The Rainbow Centre has always had a very close connections with Hungary as  we use Conductive Education to help  the children and adults who come to The Centre. Hungary is an amazing place so we thought it would be fantastic idea to give our friends and supporters the chance to see this special country for themselves.'  .

Places on the Trek are going fast. But don't worry if you think it all sounds too strenuous because once you have signed up for the Hungary Challenge The Rainbow Centre will break you in gently with the chance to participate in a series of walks including the Test Way Walk on the 9th October 2011. Trekkers will also be invited to lunch at the Rainbow Centre on the 27th September 2011 to see for themselves what a difference the funds they raise will make to the lives of the children and adults who use the Centre.

If you are interested in taking the Challenge then contact Julie Woodward on 01329289500 or at julie@rainbowcentre.org.
