Local community groups ‘inspired’ to fundraise through Localgiving.com
Twenty five people, representing twenty one local community groups were recently inspired by two free Localgiving.com fundraising information sessions; held at Towcester Volunteer Centre.
snvb (South Northamptonshire Volunteer Bureau) hosted the workshops on behalf of Northamptonshire Community Foundation (NCF). Sarah Sweet-Rowley, NCF, gave a talk on how groups can benefit from joining the website.
Sarah was joined, on the first session, by Vanessa Bird, from NORPIP (Northamptonshire Parent Information Project), a group based in Towcester. Vanessa talked about the group's fundraising success story, a ‘Strictly Towcester’ dancing event using the Localgiving website.
Melanie Bignell, Development Worker at snvb said ‘I was really pleased to see so many people who were keen to find out more about this fundraising website, which gives groups the tools to ‘raise money’, ‘promote their cause’ ‘recruit new supporters’ and ‘celebrate success’. Melanie added ‘that 80% of attendees rated the ‘Usefulness of these workshops to their organisation’ as ‘very good’ or ‘good’. Delegates’ comments included ‘Very informative; lots of tips picked up’ and ‘Very inspiring’.
