Free Innovation Workshops Help Provide A Platform For Businesses To Expand In Northants

Malcolm Johnston, Head of Enterprise at Northamptonshire Growth Hub, said: “Businesses that are looking to grow need all the help they can get to make sure that they avoid any pitfalls and that’s how Northamptonshire Growth Hub can step in.Small and medium sized businesses in the county looking to expand and develop new products, processes and services are invited to attend two FREE workshops which are being facilitated by Northamptonshire Growth Hub.
The Managing Intellectual Property and Innovation in Products, Processes and Supply Chain workshops offer essential training for any business thinking creatively and looking to gain competitive advantage.
The Innovation in Products, Processes and Supply Chain workshop will look at understanding innovation, how innovation can be used in business to develop new products, services and processes and also how this can enable business growth.
It will look at the difference between what is new to the firm and new to the market and offer an introduction to tools and techniques to support the development of new ideas. The session takes place on Thursday, February 22 2018, between 9.30am and 5pm at Park Inn Northampton.
Once businesses come up with an idea, they need to know how to protect it. That’s why the Managing Intellectual Property in your Business session will look at:
- Understanding the value of intellectual property (IP)
- Recognising which IP applies to the business, how to protect it, costs of protection, legal issues
- Managing the IP
- Sources of information and advice
The Managing Intellectual Property workshop will take place on Thursday, February 8 2018, between 1pm and 5pm at the University of Northampton Innovation Centre.
Both workshops are part of the Innovate Northamptonshire project which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and aims to promote research and innovation within small and medium sized enterprises across Northamptonshire.

Northamptonshire Growth Hub is a collaboration between The University of Northampton and Northamptonshire County Council. We provide a range of free services to businesses at any stage of their development, comprehensive and unbiased advice from business plan preparation to individual one-to-one sessions or the signposting of companies to the most relevant provision.
