The School of Philosophy in Leeds is based in a Grade 2 listed building on Woodland Lane, LS7, diagonally opposite The Regent. The School has been presenting Practical Philosophy Courses, with Meditation, to local residents in Chapel Allerton,  Leeds and further afield,  since  the early 1970's

Traditional Mantra Meditation is key to finding and maintaining a peaceful and full life and is available to those who enrol on the Philosophy Courses.

As well as Practical Philosophy, The Leeds School also runs the ‘Economics-with-Justice' Foundation courses, presenting a sustainable and humanist view of the subject, and which does not require maths or a previous study

Students attending the Evening and Daytime classes benefit from the approach where the content of the courses pre-suppose everyone already has some natural understanding, and it just needs a system of knowledge to draw this out. This applies equally to both the Practical Philosophy, and Economics-with-Justice courses. Then there are further courses following on, with opportunity to progress and delve deeper into the subjects in following terms.

Students' benefit from The Leeds School being affiliated to a parent organisation  - ‘The School of Economic Science' which has its main site in London, and has access to some of the finest Philosophical and Economics material. This is constantly being reviewed and updated to meet the changing circumstances in the world, whilst holding to timeless principles of Natural Law. The School was founded in 1937 and is a registered educational charity, number 313115 .

FREE taster sessions are offered at the beginning of each term (January, April, September) - please see the website for dates & times. A £10 discount is available for pre-enrolments on all the 10-week courses.

All our Tutors are volunteers, who have themselves passed through the courses; attend regular tutor training sessions each term, and are trained to give that something extra - ensuring that your questions are answered as fully as possible. Those who tutor young people's classes are police checked via the Criminal Records Bureau scheme
