Administration Apprentices Required For Rugby Borough Council

This is a unique opportunity to learn about a range of different professions with access to superb training and coaching.

Working for Rugby Borough Council, you will be able to make a real difference to people and our communities, at a time when we are facing exciting challenges.

You will join a group of apprentices within Rugby Borough Council providing administrative and customer service support across different teams. Key to the scheme will be an opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours that prepare you for future administrative and/or customer service roles. All apprentices will spend an initial period in our Business Support Services to gain a broad understanding of the Council's business and the needs of our customers.

After this initial period, you will spend some time in placements which typically will last between three and twelve months. This will give you the opportunity to learn about the wide range of services provided by the Council.

Whilst the functions in each placement will vary, the following are typical tasks that you will carry out:

  • Dealing with customer and colleague queries both by telephone and in person
  • Arranging meetings and events
  • Record keeping
  • Using databases/ICT systems eg to produce business documents
  • Photocopying and printing

The group of apprentices will also assist the Council with administration on key projects.

We are looking for people that are enthusiastic to learn, have a ‘can do' approach to solving problems for our customers, are a team player with the ability to organise yourself and your work.

These apprenticeships will last between one and two years. You will study for either Business Administration or Customer Services NVQs at Warwickshire College on a day release basis.

Apprentices will be paid at the National Minimum Wage, receive 23 days annual leave and often be able to work under our flexitime scheme.

If you want to find out more about these apprenticeships then we have an open day on Tuesday 12th June with tours at 9.30am and 10.30am. If you wish to attend one of these tours then please contact Debbie McCarthy on 01788 533290 or Carol Young on 01788-533241.

To apply for one of these apprenticeships then go to

You will need to register on the site, search for Business Administration Apprenticeships in Rugby and apply by 17th June 2012.
