If you just treat yourself to one thing.....

.... I would definitely recommend a Hot Stones Massage treatment with Sandra Swift.

I am not someone who has regular massages or treatments, but I had heard such amazing things about the hot stones massage treatment that Sandra Swift offers that I decided to book myself in.

So it was with interest and anticipation that  I arrived at The Sanctuary in LS8 last week.  As soon as I stepped in the doors of the therapy room, the wonderful smell of fragrant oil,  the calming music and Sandra's warm welcome instantly made me realise that I was going to have a very relaxing experience indeed.

After having explained about the treatment, Sandra began by placing hot stones at key points between two towels underneath me and on top of me so that I felt cocooned in a comforting warmth.  I learnt that the heat from the stones made the muscles really loosen up before the massage began.  Almond oil was used for the massage and I chose Fennel as the essential oil which smelt beautiful.

As soon as Sandra started massaging my arm I felt myself drift into a very relaxed state.  The heat and smoothness from the stones really felt like they were working on my muscles, at the same time as feeling really indulgent.  After my legs and arms and had been done, I then had a shoulder, face and neck massage.  This was truly wonderful and as well as the stones being used on  pressure points  on my face, crystals were also used.   I was very much on the point of drifiting off at this point and could see really beautiful purples and pinks.

I then lay on my front and had the most amazing back massage.  I had a lot of tension in my back so Sandra did some deep tissue massage too which felt like it was really releasing lots of tension (note to myself: must book in for  a Deep tissue Massage next time!).  I also had hot  stones placed between my toes and couldn't feel more wrapped up in warmth!

After the massage had finished Sandra put some more hot stones on my back and left me to relax and luxuriate in the heat for a few more minutes.  When it was time to get up and leave - it was with reluctance that I did so.  I was so relaxed I could honestly have stayed there for a long, long while!

I certainly felt a different person leaving than I did arriving and was in a very chilled out mood the rest of the day!  The treatment was a  real stress buster!   I felt very lucky to have had such an experience and was thinking about people I  know who would really appreciate it too.  Have put it on my list for their next birthday presents!
