'Wolds & Coast' Exhibition At Gallery 49

July 7th - September 1st 2012

Gallery Forty-Nine is pleased to announce that our summer exhibition ‘Wolds and Coast', a celebration of Bridlington and the surrounding countryside and coastline, will open on 7th July 2012. The exhibition will feature work by Lynne Wixon, Clare Lane, Lynne Roebuck, Peter Watson, Liz Barton, Barry Carter, Tony Hogan, Rob Gobel, David Winter, Glenn Marshall, and more. We also have an excellent selection of David Hockney's East Yorkshire poster prints.

Lynne Wixon is a fine art painter who works in oil on canvas and mixed media on board. Lynne aims to capture the essence of each city, town or landscape "by constructing and deconstructing the image and the surface". Lynne lives in North Yorkshire coastal village Robin Hood's Bay. She is currently embarking on an ‘English coastal tour', collecting information about buildings and structures in coastal towns through drawing and photography and using this as a starting point for developing colour and structure within her paintings.

Clare Lane is qualified in both Architectural Building Conservation and Printed Textiles/Surface Pattern Design. She records her physical environment through drawing, painting and photography, before transferring and printing the images onto a textile surface and creating further texture and detail with stitch.

Lynne Roebuck is a fine art printmaker with a background in illustration and graphic design. She uses block relief print techniques to create highly stylised images which are an impression of the landscape and seascape.

About Gallery Forty-Nine

Situated in the market place of the Old Town area of Bridlington in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, Gallery Forty-Nine occupies two floors of a Georgian listed building and has four large exhibition spaces with an exciting and affordable range of paintings, sculpture, jewellery and ceramics. We regularly display original work by Yorkshire-based artists Sharon Winter, Claire West, Giuliana Lazzerini, Lynne Roebuck and Shirley Vauvelle.

In our ‘print gallery' we stock limited edition prints by celebrated names such as Sir Peter Blake (including prints from the popular 'Homage to Damien Hirst' series), Sir Terry Frost, Alan Davie, Barbara Rae. We also stock David Hockney poster prints, some of which are rare editions, and a number of etchings from the Grimm's Fairy Tales series both signed and unsigned. We also recently began exhibiting lithograph prints by contemporary artists Carry Akroyd and Mark Hearld.
