Councillors Launch Domestic Abuse Drop-in Sessions

Portsmouth Councillors are launching a series of drop-in events for anyone who is affected by domestic abuse.
The first one takes place on the 6th November from 2pm - 4pm at the Wesley Rooms in Copnor Road and is the first of four happening across the city.
Cllr Robert New explained "Domestic Abuse is still something of a taboo subject and statistics show that many people don't know how to go about getting help, or who to contact. By setting up these surgeries, we hope that people will come forward to leave an abusive situation, or at the very least to seek professional advice from our Domestic Abuse services in the city.
"They're completely confidential and we will do our best to help as many people as possible."
Following on from the Copnor session, further dates and places are as follows:
- Saturday 7th November 2015, 12-2pm, Paulsgrove Housing Offices
- Monday 9th November 2015, 1-3pm, Cosham Community Centre, Room 6
- Saturday 14th November 2015, 11am-1pm, Howard Road Community Centre
The team will be planning further sessions on a monthly basis.
