A minute's silence for the late John Woolley was observed before the gameA minute's silence for the late John Woolley was observed before the game Towcestrians 36 - 22 Oadby Wyggestonians

Towcestrians reversed the early season to defeat to Oadby Wyggestonians to record their fourth straight victory and continue the climb up the Midlands 1 (East) table to fifth spot, this was a classic contest of the visitors heavyweight mauling pack against Tows fast paced ball playing game plan, it was Tows who struck first after a James Falvey missed penalty Tows moved the ball quickly, through a number of quick phases for Callum Threlfall at no.8 to crash over, this was quickly followed by winger Cam Young, dribbling the ball to great effect over the whitewash then applying the finish, Falvey converting to see Tows out to a 12 - 0 lead.

Wyggs got their rolling maul game going to control the next twenty minutes of the match and with a series of penalties and five metre scrums finally went over through their pack. Cam Young, who's pace and quick feet terrorised the Wyggs defence all afternoon, chipped and gathered a kick ahead to go over for his second and looked to be in for a hat-trick before being called back by the touch judge, much to the annoyance of the watching crowd, who clearly felt Young was well in play, Tow then gained the try bonus point with a brilliantly worked team try, a series of smart offloads with players in support, leading to George Speakman going over, Falvey again adding the extras for a 24 - 5 half-time lead

Tows started the second half with another mass handling move, this time finding Callum Jones on the end of it, Wyggs pack kept them in the game with a second score before Dave Devlin-Jones made the game safe with another well worked try, himself breaking in the centre and feeding the supporting Pepe Nanci, who drew the men to feed the ball back to Devlin-Jones in support to cross under the posts and take Tows out to a 36 - 10 lead.

The last twenty minutes were a scrappy affair with tempers from both sides fraying, Wyggs getting opportunities from penalties to work the ball downfield to a close out line out and drive over for a score, and then secured a losing try bonus point when awarded a penalty try very deep into an unusual amount of injury time.

Tows 2nd XV let slip a lead to return from Burton RFC with a narrow 29 - 22 defeat and Tows Colts were unlucky to draw when Buckingham scored in injury time to tie their game 22 - 22

Tows will look to continue the winning run this coming Saturday as they travel to local rivals Old Northamptonians, 2:15pm kick off.
