- Are you interested in the countryside
- and rural issues?
- Are you aged between 10 and 26?
- Would you like an active social life?
- Do you want to meet people your own age
- and make new friends?
- Would you like the opportunity to travel
- at home and abroad?
- Would you like to learn new skills?
You can do all this and more, and have great fun at the same time, by joining a Young Farmers' Club
But I'm not a farmer!!
Nor are many of our members, so that's no problem. All you need is an interest in the countryside and things rural
What is YFC?
YFC is a voluntary organisation for young people aged between 10 and 26, run by the members for the members
What's going on in Northamptonshire?
We have 5 Young Farmers' Clubs in the county:
Grendon, Kelmarsh, Oundle, Thrapston
and Towcester
We also run a Countrysiders Club which is especially for 10 - 14 year olds and meets during the school holidays
What happens in a Young Farmers' Club?
Each club has a regular meeting night (Monday or Wednesday) and a very varied programme of events - things like talks, trips out, sports, discos etc.
Social events of various sorts happen most weekends, sometimes at other clubs,
or in other counties, so there's the chance to meet more new faces
There are also county and national programmes of events that each club is encouraged to take part in - these include a wide-ranging competitions programme, which gives you the chance to learn something new and compete for your club or county
Who organises the Club?
Each club has it's own Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and other officers, elected by the club members once a year. Every member has the opportunity to take on these roles if they wish, and training is available to help them.
Club members get involved in arranging the programme of events so it suits a variety of tastes
What happens when I'm 27?
You can no longer take part in National competitions but you can still stay involved with your club and the county - as an advisory member, maybe, or as a steward or judge at competitions.
Past members are a vital part of the organisation
It sounds great! What do I do now?
